Access

The majority of the roads can be accessed by normal vehicle, however there are additional routes for 4x4 as marked out on the map of the reserve.

Shops & Fuel

The closest petrol station to Palala River Cottages is Vaalwater (45km) or Mokopane (82km).
The local town of Vaalwater (40km) has a pharmacy, banks, supermarket and very good craft and curio shops.

Size of the reserve

Palala River Cottages are situated on the privately owned Jembisa Game Reserve which is 3000ha in size.

What to pack/Clothing

Lightweight clothing - shorts, cotton shirts, cotton trousers, swimming costume, sunhat. A light jersey or fleece for those visiting between April and October.
Footwear – We recommend some more substantial closed toe shoes for the bush and evenings, particularly if planning to do bush walking, such as trainers, or walking shoes. Sun cream, binoculars, camera, video camera, sunglasses, guidebooks – some are also available for use at the reception.
